Therapeutic Prescriptions by Vitaminx & Minerals

IX. Essential Supplements.

If you look out for the points I mentioned already, your AD symptoms will definitely improve since you will be fixing the root of the problem. If you also take the supplements that I will mention here, your recovery will be much faster.

I will list these in order of importance. As I wrote before, the most important one is Omega 3 unsaturated fatty acids, which can be found in flax seed and chia. These are the most important ones out of all the supplements listed below.

1. Flax Seed or Chia 2-3 grams per day

To read more about this read part 6 “The benefits of Omega 3” in subsection A, “Oil and Excess Protein”, and part 4 “Correcting the balance between Th1 and Th2” in subsection B “The prominence of Th2 Lymph cells over Th1 Lymph cells” in section VII “The Real Causes of AD”. This is the most important supplement for curing AD.

2. Vitamin C 3-5 grams per day, broken down into 3-4 separate servings

What you need to be careful is that you are taking enough Vitamin C. Measure in grams, not milligrams. In other words, consume this in large amounts. Once you develop AD, you must take these amounts or else you will not see an effect. There are also some doctors and dieticians who say that this might cause kidney stones, but that will not happen.

There are some who get diarrhea, but in those cases, you can gradually increase the amount you take. Also, there may be a period when your AD symptoms get worse, but that is in fact a favorable turn so don’t worry and start out with small doses and then gradually increase how much you take. Once you AD symptoms get significantly better, use 2 grams a day for maintaining your good condition.

Vitamin C is a good antioxidant and will destroy free radicals, and also will aid the secretion of cortisone (a steroid hormone) from the adrenal gland. This steroid hormone will safely stop skin inflammations without causing any side effects. Cortisol gets produced in the ligament layer of the adrenal cortex, and this layer contains large amounts of Vitamin C. Tribes with little access to fresh vegetables, such as the Eskimos, obtain Vitamin C from eating the adrenal cortex inside an animal’s internal organs. Also, Vitamin C will increase the absorption of biotin, which will be described later on.

Also, the tea made from the leaves of a Japanese Persimmon tree contains a lot of Vitamin C, and is recommended. In addition, this tea contains astraglin, a flavonoid. Astraglin will also change to another flavonoid, kaempferol, which will regulate the balance between Th1 and Th2. There are many people who drink bottled water, but you can simply put in the persimmon leaves in to make the tea.

3. Vitamin B12: 1000µg/Day

This vitamin has a red color, and is a multi-atom complex containing a cobalt atom in the middle of its structure. This was discovered as a result of researching whether the liver of animals could help people with malignant anemia. This vitamin is especially effective in treating AD by eliminating nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is a type of free radical and if there is an excess amount, it could damage many organs, including the skin. Also, it can be a skin inflammation mediator and can worsen skin inflammation, which is the basis of AD.
Supplements that claim to eliminate active oxygen, such as superoxide, hydroxy radical, hydrogen peroxide, and singlet oxygen, are not enough. You must also eliminate excessive nitric oxide.

As I have mentioned before, at my clinic we mix this vitamin with ointments. You should also take these orally. However, the Recommended Dietary Allowances set forth by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare is 2.4 micrograms per day, which is clearly not enough for AD treatment. There will be no effect unless you take 1000 micrograms, nearly 500 times the recommended amount.

You may wonder whether there will be some side effects if you take that much, but I can assure you that there are absolutely no side effects. Also, some doctors and specialists say that overconsumption of Vitamin B12 will mislead megaloblastic anemia diagnostics, but rarely do people get this disease, and in my 30 years of being a doctor, I have never seen a patient with this disease (even when I was an intern at a university hospital). To not allow large consumptions of Vitamin B12 to treat AD, which, these days, afflicts more than 20% of all elementary school children is appalling, because doctors claim that it will hider the diagnosis of an extremely rare disease.

4. Other members of the Vitamin B

Vitamin B12 will be more effective when taken with other type B vitamins. Vitamin B1, B5, B2, and B6 all of which have unique effects when used for AD treatment.

Vitamin B1: 50 mg/Day, Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid): 50 mg/Day

These two vitamins will make the adrenal cortex more active when combined with Vitamin C. In the adrenal cortex, cortisol (a type of steroid hormone) is produced. It is well known that this hormone subdues allergies. When AD symptoms suddenly get worse, there are some times when I am forced to prescribe steroids such as predonine. However, rather than supplemented steroids, the steroid hormones made in your adrenal gland are safer. These vitamins aid the production and secretion of these safe steroids, so it is strongly recommended that you take them. If you use them with vitamin C, you can generate a synergetic effect.

Vitamin B5 is also a key ingredient in coenzymes, which are necessary in the most important reactions in the body such as the citric acid cycle and β-oxidation, so it is necessary to supplement this vitamin. It is also effective in detoxifying toxic substances from the body. You can read a section on detoxifying later on. It is also effective, like zinc, at controlling herpes, a common disease for AD patients.

Vitamin B2: 50 mg/Day, Vitamin B6: 50 mg/Day
These two reduce the redness of the face seen in many AD patients. Patients in their teens, in particular, get upset over this problem.
Patients will fret over skin redness that others may not even notice. It is actually better to inject B2 and B6, but it is not realistic to advise people to go to the hospital every day unless you are being hospitalized. In that case, you can take them orally, but be sure to take them in large quantities. Since they are soluble, you don’t need to worry about an overdose. These vitamins do not work for everyone, so try for 3 months at first. B6, along with manganese, is necessary for the production of ceramide, which I have explained in section 6 “On Dry Skin”. It is also a key ingredient in the production of cysteine, an amino acid that takes out mottles and brightens skin. ( However, nursing mothers or pregnant women should not take over 25 mg of Vitamin B6 per day. B6 reduces the secretion of prolactin, a lactogenic hormone)

Cysteine can also be effective in reducing redness. Try using 1000 to 2000 mg per day.

Vitamin B2 is also called riboflavin, and is important to the thyroid gland and can cause dermatitis and glossitis when there is a deficiency. B2 and B1 can be found in pork and bowels, but since AD patients should not eat meat, many develop type B deficiencies. This is why it is necessary to get these vitamins from supplements.

5. Shell Ginger

This plant is called shell flower, too. Its scientific name is Alpinia zerumbet. Grown mainly in the tropical or the subtropical zone. But it is said that there are nearly 300 kinds of shell ginger all over the world. The plant is a rhizomatous, ever green tropical perennial that grows to a height of 1 to 3 m and bears beautiful white funnel-formed flowers. It is a plant of the ginger family. Usually the plants of ginger family have lipoxygenase inhibition effect, and therefore the plant has anti-inflammatory effect.

We use leaves of the shell ginger indigenous to Okinawa Islands which are located in the subtropical zone of Japan. Okinawa Islands are very famous for the longevity and health of the inhabitants there. Okinawa people drink the shell ginger tea traditionally. Thanks to the strong sun, the leaves of shell ginger contains a lot of polyphenols which are very effective anti-oxidants. Definitely the various kinds of polyphenols support their longevity and health. ( Because in Okinawa Islands there are a lot of tropical plants growing, in 2008 we established a small laboratory to find good medicines from the tropical plants.)

For examples, one of the polyphenols is kaemferol. It inhibits the production of the two cytokines of Th2 cell (IL-4 and IL-5), and also suppresses the multiplication of Th2 cell itself. In other words, it has eminent antiallergic effect.

You must be very careful when you take the supplement of shell ginger, because 60 – 70 % of the AD patients may suffer from aggravation of the symptoms temporarily ( one week to one month). And some patients may suffer from diarrhea. This is due to detoxification effect of shell ginger, and do not worry. Reduce the dose and gradually increase.

6. Enteric-Coated Lactoferrin:200-800mg/Day

Lactoferrin is a red protein found in breast milk and is found the most in foremilk. This was discovered over 60 years ago, but its importance has only been recognized recently and is now widely taken as a health enhancement product. The red color comes from a bond with iron ions.

This protein, made for unprotected infants, has a plethora of effects. First, it can regulate the immune system and have antibacterial, antivirus, anti-inflammation, and cancer metastasis and development prevention effects. For newborn babies, any substance put into the body, even if proteins necessary for growth, is new and foreign. If they have an allergic reaction to each protein that enters the body, they would not survive. They need some sort of immune tolerance. Lactoferrin is extremely effective for this conditioning. This supplement is especially important for AD patients who have immune problems.

Also, after breast feeding, babies immediately go to sleep; lactoferrin has a soothing and sedative effect on the brain by increasing the amount of endorphin. There are many patients who have a significant amount of stress. Lactoferrin can alleviate the anxiety many patients have. Although physical stress can be eased with sleep, but emotional stress does not go away so easily. In any disease, the worst adverse effect is mental stress. Lactoferrin is especially effective when treating stress, and instead of immediately using antidepressants and tranquilizers, try enteric-coated lactoferrin first.

It will also take away the iron from bacteria, stop its multiplication, and balance the intestines. If you take this with intestinal bacteria, these effects will dramatically increase as well.

The most important thing when taking lactoferrin is to make sure that it doesn’t decompose in the stomach and the duodenum. There is no point in taking this unless it gets to the small intestine. The only lactoferrin supplement that doesn’t let this happen is enteric coated lactoferrin. Shellack, a secretion product of silkworms, is coated on, and does not let the supplement decompose until it reaches the intestine. This type of lactoferrin is the only one that is effective. However, this supplement is expensive; although other types of lactoferrin supplements are cheap, these decompose before they reach the intestine.

7. Probiotics

It is important to reiterate that the intestine is the body’s largest immune organ. There are many hair-like villi in the small intestine, and in between those villi are Payer’s patches (structured like patchwork). Peyer’s patches is a collection of lymph follicles, and is basically one leading organ that controls the immune system. Also, the epithelium in the small intestine contains 1 lymphocyte for every 5 to 6 epithelium cells, and accounts for 60% of all immune system cells. Aside from that, a Japanese researcher recently discovered lymphoid tissues, which contain undifferentiated lymphocytes called cryptpaches, under the lymph cell of the Lamina propria. This makes T cells unique to the intestines. As a result, it is important to keep the intestines healthy to treat AD.

In addition, the intestines are so linked to the brain that it is called the second brain. It is typically 6 to 7 meters long for Japanese adults, and when spread out, it has the surface area of a whole tennis court. There are almost 100 million nerve cells, which constitutes 50% of all nerve cells in the body aside from the brain. In other words, the brain and intestine control emotions, stress, and sleep together.

Consequently, severe AD symptoms caused by extreme stress and anxiety must be cured by putting the intestines in good shape. Although I cannot elaborate on the functions of the brain and intestines here, one notable example of their importance is when strabismus (squint) was cured just by conditioning the intestines with good intestinal bacteria.

There are over 100 kinds of intestinal bacteria, but I’d particularly like AD patients to take a type of lactic acid bactilli, Miyairi bacteria.

These bacteria are encapsulated in a spore and will go in the intestine without being destroyed by gastric acid. Also, it will exert an anti-inflammation effect by repressing inflammatory cytokine and will not use up biotin, as mentioned before. Some types of bifidobacteria use biotin, so you should stay away from bifidobacteria. There are many types of bifidobacteria, so it is unknown yet which types do use biotin and which ones don’t. Thus, to be on the safe side, you should not eat yogurts with bifidobacteria as an ingredient. It is not good to eat yogurt regularly without knowing what it is in them.

Also, try to eat an apple a day. The fibers in apples, pectin, are good for conditioning the intestines. Instead of eating cake, switch to eating apples, your intestines will thank you.

8. Magnesium: 250-300mg/day

More than 325 enzymes directly depend upon magnesium (About 200 enzymes depend upon zinc, around 20 enzymes depend upon copper, and 10 upon selenium) to function properly. So, including metabolic pathways indirectly depending upon magnesium, a few thousands of chemical reactions in the body need magnesium. If we didn’t have sufficient magnesium, physical functions including skin would paralyze.

We discussed a lot about omega 3 unsaturated fatty acid and omega 6 unsaturated fatty acid. Magnesium is deeply involved with the metabolism of these unsaturated fatty acids. Desaturase which metabolizes unsaturated fatty acids to eicosanoids need magnesium along with vitamin B3, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and zinc. Therefore, insufficiency of magnesium intake makes flax seed oil useless. And magnesium has detoxification effect of toxic substances. It is combined with heavy metals and it quickly eliminates them from the body.

Recently foods are too much refined and terribly deficient in magnesium compared with foods in other times. And we don’t have mechanism to store magnesium in out body. Besides, recent high fat diet prevents the intestine from absorbing magnesium, and high protein diet eliminates magnesium fast from the body. In other words, a lot of people lack magnesium.

AD is often associated with asthma, and theophylline which is bronchodilator agent is prescribed. But theophylline has effect of depletion of magnesium. Some patients face bullying and take anti-depression medicine such as SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors). This kind of anti-depression medicines contain fluorine, and that fluorine is bound with magnesium, resulting in the insufficient work of magnesium.

And AD itself brings about mental stress to the patients, and adrenaline increases. Increasing adrenaline depletes magnesium and many AD patients lack magnesium. If the symptoms of AD is so serious that the patients can not help taking oral steroid medicine, that steroid depletes magnesium. Hyperthyroidism and diabetes mellitus also deplete magnesium.

Very few doctors recognize this fact, and usually serum magnesium is not checked at least when you go to hospital or clinic for AD. Because, as I write here, magnesium is involved directly and indirectly with thousands of metabolic pathways, this neglect of magnesium is one of the fatal mistakes of modern medicine.

And even if magnesium is checked, it is the magnesium in the plasma. But plasma magnesium is at most only 1 % of total magnesium in the body.

And when our body is exposed to stress, our body takes out magnesium from the cells and send it to the blood. So, in spite of insufficiency of magnesium totally, serum magnesium check gives us misinformation that the level of magnesium is normal.

AD patients should not eat Chocolate, because the beans and oils used in chocolate aggravate the symptoms. But especially AD patients love chocolate. Probably it is because chocolate contains much magnesium. AD patients seem to know it by instinct and they want magnesium. If the beans and oils used in chocolate were safe for AD patients, we would like to recommend them to take. But unfortunately not so. It is a pity.

If you drink soy milk every day, please be careful. Soy contains phytic acid most among beans. Phytic acid is bound with magnesium and it prevents magnesium from being absorbed. (But fermented soy such as miso is not problem). And brown rice contains lot of phytic acid, and be careful. Nicotine of tobacco, and large consumption of alcohol ( if moderate, no problem) deplete magnesium.

Per 1 kg of body weight, 6-8 mg of magnesium is adequate. For children who grow quickly, it is said that 10 mg of magnesium per 1 kg of body weight is necessary. But we take magnesium from food and hard water, too, from supplement 250 mg- 300 mg should be OK. Nuts and green and yellow vegetables contain magnesium a lot. And kelp, too.

If you take magnesium a lot at once, it may evoke diarrhea. So, please take small amount till your intestine gets used to magnesium.

You can find many kinds of cheep magnesium in Internet. We recommend magnesium glycinate.

9. Biotin(Vitamin H): 5mg-10mg/per day. Please note this is not microgram, but mg.

This Vitamin is named after Haut, German for skin, after a German researcher discovered that this vitamin prevented skin inflammations in mice. This is also a type of soluble Vitamin B.
Biotin’s main purpose is to aid the production of prostaglandin E3, a type of benign eicosanoid and EPA(eicosapentaenoic acid), from α-linolenic acid. In other words, it prevents skin inflammations. It also eliminates a type of amino acid, histidine, from the body.
When histidine reacts with decarboxylase, histamine, which causes itchiness, gets produced. In addition, biotin strengthens the capillaries under the skin’s basal layer, and aids to production of new skin. This also helps curing hangnails. Veterinarians have been using this to strengthen the hoofs of horses. Although different from AD, this also helps palmoplanter pustulosis (If you have this, use 9 mg to 12mg per day).

Infants do not have well developed intestines, and as a result they don’t absorb or produce biotin as much, which can lead to biotin deficiency. Formula-fed babies, in particular, tend to develop deficiencies since the powder milk in Japan contains less biotin compared to those in the US. There are even some doctors who contend that the reason why Japanese babies are so susceptible to AD is because there is not enough biotin in their milk. Biotin is also effective in healing napkin rashes.

Also, you must take in manganese to make biotin function effectively. You need 3 mg to 4 mg per day, but this is equal to what you take in from your everyday diet. However, if you take in too much calcium, it will get in the way of manganese absorption. Those who need to take calcium supplements should be careful. Also, manganese is sometimes called “Love’s mineral” or “Love’s salt”, and is a necessary mineral for nursing women. As a result, if a nursing woman or a weaning child is developing AD, it is recommended that she take biotin. Also, manganese is necessary for the production of ceramide, as mentioned in section 6. I wrote that a cup of pineapple juice contains 3 mg of manganese, so you should drink it every day.

Manganese is also essential for the production of thyroid hormones. Recently, there have been reports of hidden hypothyroidism in young women. These patients don’t show any irregularities in their blood tests but have symptoms such as constipation, body temperatures below 36 degrees, light-headedness, listlessness, a slow pulse, and pudginess (but not obesity). Irregularities in the thyroid gland, whether it be underaction or overaction, will worsen AD.

Biotin levels tend to be low for the people listed as follows. These people include those who receive dialysis, take antibiotics, people who take only α-lipoic acid, eat lots of egg whites(there are some body builders who make protein shakes out of egg whites. They take out the yolk to avoid unnecessary cholesterol. If you drink those shakes on a daily basis, as mentioned in the section about eggs, avidin,
a protein found in egg whites, will combine with biotin and hinder its absorption), take antidepressants, sleeping pills or antiepileptics over a long period. This is an important but highly unnoticed fact. Many AD patients have mental issues and take these pills for many years. They do not notice that these pills interfere with the absorption and ingestion of biotin into cells and worsen AD symptoms. Be cautious of psychoactive drugs that are structured like carbamide and ureide. The explanation for this gets rather technical, so ask you doctor about this.

Please take in biotin for at least 3 months (if you have palmoplanter pustulosis, use it for around 6 months). If you don’t see any change in your symptoms, there was no biotin deficiency. When you take biotin, also supplement α-lipoic acid and manganese from one cup of pineapple juice, and avoid the following; eating yogurt with lots of bifidobacteria, egg whites, antipsychotic drugs and stop smoking.
Otherwise, biotin will not work effectively. Also, biotin complements Miyairi bacteria, so it is recommended that you take both of these at the same time.

10. α-lipoic acid: 300mg/Day

α-lipoic acid has started to garner attention, just like CoQ10, due to the increased demand for weight loss and anti-aging supplements.
These are synthesized in the body at small amounts, so it does not count as a vitamin. Also called thioctic acid, α-lipoic has been used as a therapeutic agent to help drug addicts. Even to this day doctors are familiar with the word thioctic acid. In “The Alpha Lipoic Acid Breakthrough”, Bart Berkson, Ph.D, writes about how α-lipoic acid saved the lives of 4 patients who ate poisonous mushrooms in the late 70’s. The mushrooms nearly destroyed the liver, but α-lipoic acid saved the lives of these 4 people.
After further research, it was discovered that α-lipoic acid has a strong antioxidant ability and is soluble in lipids and water. It is now used for detoxification and treating diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular problems. Since it is also effective in protecting the skin from active oxygen, as I have written before, it is used in MA ointments and relapse prevention ointments. Also, since it strengthens the liver’s functions, it has strong detoxification capabilities, and AD patients with severe symptoms sometimes get α-lipoic acid injections at my clinic. In addition, if you’re taking omega 3 unsaturated fatty acids from flax seed (or oil) or chia, it is recommended that you take α-lipoic acid to prevent the oxidation of the unsaturated fatty acids.

11. Selenium:50µg-150µg/Day

This trance mineral has finally started to receive attention, and is an essential antioxidation supplement that you must take. Selenium is needed to make glutathione peroxidase, an enzyme with powerful antioxidant effects. This also works hand in hand with Vitamin E. The importance of this mineral has finally been recognized, and is put in mineral supplements, such as zinc, manganese, molybdenum, and iodine, that can be bought not only at drug stores but at convenience stores as well. However, make sure that you can get at least 50µg X of selenium per day from your supplement.

12. Vitamin D ;1000IU-2000IU/day (For the first 10 days 5000IU/day)

This vitamin is absorbed from animal products as a kind of cholesterol (7-dehydrocholesterol). Then it is converted to vitamin D3 at the skin when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light. Vitamin D3 is converted to 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 at the liver, and at the kidney it is converted to 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. This last form of vitamin D3 can exert effects.
Most of people nowadays lack vitamin D3. And as the recommended diet for AD is near vegetarian, the intake of cholesterol from animal products gets reduced, and active type of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 is also not sufficient.
I motioned about the importance of vitamin D in the other pages. It is very effective for hypertension, osteoporosis, cancer prevention, insomnia, and depression. And of course for AD treatment, this vitamin is essential.
Recent research indicates that vitamin D is necessary for the production of cathelicidin which is bactericidal peptide. AD patients often suffer from impetigo contagiosa. To prevent it, sufficient vitamin D should be supplemented and AD patients should improve the immunity from inside of the body.

Above mentioned 1 – 12 supplements are quite essential. But don’t take the 12 supplements at once. Please take them as follows. This way is much more effective.

For the 1st one month ; flaxseed oil, vitamin C, vitamin B complex, vitamin B12, probiotics, Magnesium, biotin, α-lipoic acid, selenium.

Then the 2nd one month; flaxseed oil, shell ginger, enteric-coated lactoferrin, vitamin B complex, vitamn D3 The 3rd one month; same as for the 1st one month (flaxseed oil, vitamin C, vitamin B complex, vitamin B12, probiotics, Magnesium, biotin, α-lipoic acid, selenium.)

The 4th one month: same as for the 2nd one month ( flaxseed oil, shell ginger, enteric-coated lactoferrin, vitamin B complex, vitamin D3) The 5th one month : Back to the 1st-one-month prescription. But don’t take them everyday. Please skip 2 days /week — for example, on Sunday and on Thursday, don’t take any supplements.

The 6th one month : Back to the 2nd-one-month prescription. But don’t take them everyday. Please skip 2 days /week — for example, on Sunday and on Thursday, don’t take any supplements.

Like this way, gradually reduce the intake of supplements with observing your improvement of the symptoms.

For the convenience of our patients, we put them together.
prescription [Set 1 ] ; flaxseed oil, vitamin C, vitamin B complex, vitamin B12, probiotics, Magnesium, biotin, α-lipoic acid, selenium.
prescription [Set 2 ] ; flaxseed oil, shell ginger, enteric-coated lactoferrin, vitamin B complex, vitamin D3, + Kucha soap We send to our patients each set at $ 110 + postage.

13. Kucha soap

The reason why we mention soap here is that supplement should be taken not only by orally but also given directly to the skin.
“Staphylococcus epidermidis” is good bacteria for skin for keeping the skin health. It obstructs breeding of malignant bacteria such as staphylococcus aurei and streptococcus. This soap grows Staphylococcus epidermidis, and also makes the skin surface slightly acidic and prevents malignant bacteria from breeding.
The basic material of this soap is marine silt called Kucha. It is ultra fine and homogeneous mud which is yellow dust brought by the westerlies from Mongolia more than 5 million years ago and deposited at the seafloor before the Okinawa Islands upheaved.
Kuhca penetrates the skin and into the pores deeply, and gives the skin lots of minerals such as Ca, Mg, K, Si. Because the marine clay is charged with negative ions, it adsorbs sebum and the other wastes, and removes them efficiently. Consequently, Kucha soap plays the dual roles, detoxification and supplementation. And the unique extracts of original plants of Okinawa Islands give moisture and transparent luminosity to your damaged skin.

Main ingredients ; Marine Silt (Kucha), Palm Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Moringa Oil, Extracts of Fermented Plants of Okinawa Islands.

We recommend our patients to take at least these 13 supplements. But not all at once. We recommend as follows; For the fist month: [flax seed oil, vitamin C, vitamin B12, vitamin B complex, probiotics, magnesium, biotin, α-lipoic acid, selenium] — Set A For the second month: [flax seed oil, shell ginger, enteric-coated lactoferrin, vitamin D3, Kucha soap] — Set B And continue Set A and Set B at intervals of one month.

14. Zinc: 15mg-30mg/Day

Zinc is an important mineral for the skin. Many key enzymes need zinc and so do those with prostate gland problems and diabetes, but for skin, it is needed to make collagen. Skin that is damaged from AD needs to be replaced with new skin. AD patients are susceptible to viral skin diseases such as herpes and molluscum contagiosum, and zinc will strengthen the immunity against these viruses. Zinc also induces a protein called metallothionein that combines with heavy metals to decrease the toxicity of cadmium.

One issue when taking zinc is that if you only take zinc, there can be an imbalance between zinc and copper. As a result, you must take zinc and copper to a ratio of 15 to 1. When you buy zinc supplements, be sure to check the label and see whether copper is in it at the right ratio. There are hospitals that prescribe zinc, but this is not covered by health insurance. However, you can buy these off the Internet and even from some convenience stores. It is cheap, so it I recommend that you buy it. If you do, be sure to choose Zinc Menomethionate or Zinc Picolinate structures since they are absorbed easily.

But don’t take zinc for long periods. It is not possible to deny the side effects of zinc, if taken for long periods. Please be cautious.

Intake of more than 100 mg per day may skin dry. Indeed zinc is very important mineral, but too much is as bad as too little.

15. Bladderwrack :500mg-600mg/Day

This is a brown-green seaweed that grows in cold ocean areas, and is used in stews in Northern Europe. It is rich in minerals such as iodine, zinc, and potassium. Many AD patients have constipation and have body temperatures lower than 36 degrees. This indicates how the function of the thyroid gland is not as good as normal people. 90% of these people do not show underactive thyroid functions, but are barely above the lower limit. This means that technically no treatment is necessary, but in reality the thyroid function is deteriorating. This is why you use bladderwrack, a natural herb, to complement iodine and improve thyroid functions. This also helps constipation and the recovery of the skin. It is a relatively cheap supplement, and I strongly recommend taking this. It may even help you lose weight! However those who have hyperthyroidism, are pregnant, or are nursing should not take this supplement.

16. Moringa:400-1200mg/Day

Moringa is a plant found in North India and is a type of horseradish tree. It has a very potent medicinal effect and was even called “The Miracle Tree”, “The Tree of Medicine Case”, and “The Tree of Life” at one point. It has an astonishing amount of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, and according to Ayurvedic, moringa could prevent 300 different diseases and was used from ancient times. It was used from root to flower, and its oil was used as perfume and lotion in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

Moringa stops the function of an enzyme, hyaluronidase, and the shortage of hyaluronic acid, which is found in large quantities in the dermis. Hyaluronic acid also helps the skin stay moisturized, and as a result, can prevent dry skin for AD patients. Moringa also is effective at cleaning up the intestine, and many people notice that once they start to take moringa the amount of gas they pass increases and their constipation reduces. Your stomach will suddenly feel bloated, and in some rare cases, you can be in pain for about a month.

However, you should not worry since this is the way the intestines detoxify. It is a sign that the intestines have stopped slacking off and are becoming active. I will also write about detoxification in section 11 and how cleaning the intestines can produce amazing results for AD patients.

In addition, moringa contains particularly large quantities of an amino acid called GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid). Brown rice sprouts are also known to have lots of GABA, but moringa contains 30 times more GABA than that. This amino acid reduces anxiety and can relieve patients from the stress that comes with AD symptoms. Also, unlike anti-depressents, there are no side effects.

17. Digestive enzymes

If you just can’t adapt to a diet without meat, please take enzymes that burn fat and protein such as pepsin, peptidase, lipase, and trypsin. These proteins need to be fully broken down into amino acids, not polypeptides. Asians, in particular, have not physically adapted to a meat-based diet, so you must find some way to break the polypeptides down. You can find many of these supplements on the internet for a good price.

18. VitaminE: 200 Units- 400 Units/Day

In order to prevent the oxidation of omega 3 unsaturated fatty acids in the body, you should take flax seed (or oil) or chia. I recommend a mixed type of supplement with overall 8 types of vitamin E, which consists of 4 types of tochopherol, α-, β-, γ-, δ-, and 4 types of tochotrienol, α-, β-, γ-, δ-.

Recently, there have been many researchers saying that solely taking vitamin E actually increases the chances of developing cardiovascular diseases. In this case, the vitamin E is α-tochopherol. If you only take α-tochopherol supplements, the blood concentration of α-tochopherol increases, and the concentration of γ-tochopherol decreases. When that happens the ability of γ- tochopherol to eliminate free radicals, produced by nitric oxide, decreases, and this can potentially cause bad effects on the body.

Ideally, you should take as many different types of vitamin E as you can from natural foods. However, since this rarely happens in real life, you must take it from mixed supplements, and not α-tochopherol supplements. Mixed supplements are finally becoming available everywhere, so make sure that the label says that your supplement contains more than just α-tochopherol.

It is best if you take this with selenium. Omega 3 unsaturated fatty acids, Vitamin E, and selenium (and also α-lipoic acid) is the ideal way to cure inflammation diseases.

19. Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA): 2000mg- 3000mg/Day

This supplement is well known among body builders and people who are dieting, but is not so recognized among AD patients and doctors who are not knowledgeable about dietetics. Although it is made from linoleic acid, its shape is dissimilar and is often called isomerized linoleic acid. As I mentioned in the fat section, linoleic acid will use arachidonic acid to metabolize malignant eicosanoids, and our current diets contain too much linoleic acid. Even though they have the same name, conjugated linoleic acid, in fact, stops the body from metabolizing arachidonic acid, and will decrease the production of inflammatory eicosanoids.

In addition, IgG uses conjugated linoleic acid as an ingredient. IgG halts the production of IgE, which can trigger allergic reactions. Thus, this function helps AD treatment. Although this can be found in sunflower seeds, you should take these from supplements for the amount to be sufficient. This also helps to prevent obesity. You can easily buy these supplements from the internet.

Caution: People with Palmoplantar Pustulosis (PPP) should not take these supplements.

20. Supplements for reducing the effects of stress

There is nothing that worsens AD more than stress. There are many cases where patients strictly follow the diet guidelines, take the supplements, go through detoxification (which I will explain later on), and see their AD symptoms improve only to have their condition suddenly deteriorate because of an impending exam, a stressful love life, or a tragic incident. Stress is inevitable to a certain extent, but can be alleviated by using supplements. I recommend supplements such as moringa, enteric-coated lactoferrin, and Vitamin B and 2 other ones listed below.

a) Kava: This is a powder taken from the dried roots of kavakava, a plant found in the south pacific. You can find this in any big pharmacy. Stay away from tranquilizers, which have various side effects. When I used to work at a mental disease hospital, I tried out a couple of tranquilizers myself. Every single one of them made me feel strange. These pills should only be used for people with mental disorders, not for stress. However those who drink alcohol daily or have a weak liver or liver diseases should not take kava. Also, you should not take kava everyday for over a month.

b) St. John’s wort: Although slightly different from stress, people can fall into depression. This also takes away a person’s energy and resistance to diseases. Many times, it overlaps with stress. Patients who have severe AD symptoms and do not see any hope in the future can fall into this situation. These patients need psychological care, and some even voluntarily ask for help. However, things may get worse if you go to a bad counselor. St. John’s wort, which can be found in any pharmacy, will lighten and enhance your mood. However, this mood enhancement does not come as excitement, but more as a sense of natural strength and energy. You must use this for 4 weeks until you feel an effect. Although St. John’s wort does not have any side effects, it can make your body sensitive to light, so you should avoid sunbathing after you take this. Also, consult you pharmacist whether you should take this supplement if you are also taking antiepileptic drugs, cardiotonics (digoxin), bronchiodilators (theophylline), antiocoagulants (warfarin), or immunosuppressants (ciclosporin).

21. Water is also an important supplement

Yes, water; ordinary water. Water cleans the intestines and is effective for treating various allergic symptoms. AD patients have particularly dry skin, so it is good to hydrate yourself from the inside. It also helps constipation; it is commonly known that constipation is bad for the skin. It does not matter whether you drink mineral water from a convenience store, just drink a lot of it. If you have a well with fresh natural water, you can drink that too. Tap water contains unpurified chlorine and toxins, so you should not drink tap water too much.

Many people ask whether they should drink ionized alkaline water, but in all honesty, I don’t have an answer to that question. I think it just becomes plain water once it gets neutralized by gastric acid in the stomach. However, there is nothing bad about it, and it is cheap, so if you think it’s good for your health, you should drink it. There are devices that allow you to make ionized alkaline water at your home. If the expense of using this is cheap, there should be nothing wrong with it, but if it’s extremely expensive, just think that it’s a scam to rip off sick people. There are other types of water such as π water, α squared water, tourmaline water, and deep seawater. I will not deny the effects of these waters. If you want to spend the extra money, you can try them out. However, if you don’t have the extra money, mineral water is enough (I will also write about acidic water later).
However if water quality is important to you, the next thing must be noted. Normally, water is made from a cluster of at least 5 water molecules. However, if there is a lone, or even 2 or 3, molecule, it can be easily absorbed in the cells and is better for your healthy. This type of water is said to have a small cluster. Tap water has large clusters, and is not good for your health. There are devices, which you can find on the internet, you can put on your faucet to make the clusters smaller.
(Be careful of the “water business”): It is said that when a doctor starts to use water, his career is over. This means that the more doctors have to stoop down and recommend vague “health-enhancement water”, the more desperate and ethically dishonest they are. Doctors in university hospitals never use this kind of water, even if they knew it would work. Either way, you should be suspicious of water that use physics terms such as “wave”, “energy”, and “entropy”. Although when it comes to “spiritual water”, people will question its effectiveness, but if a “doctor” recommends some suspicious-sounding water, patients will blindly trust the doctor even if they do not understand what the doctor means when he says “quantum theory” or “subatomic particles”. Even though med school requires students to learn physics and chemistry, respectable doctors will not use technical terms just to sell water.
Another thing you should note is that you do not need to be qualified as a medical doctor to receive a PhD of medicine. Even if you major in liberal arts, if you send your thesis to a med school, they can give you a PhD of medicine. An extreme example could be if a history student sent a thesis titled “Traditional Medicine in literature during the Edo Period” and the medical school accepted it, that student would still get a PhD of medicine. You should be especially cautious of PhD of medicine from universities in other countries. People can get these even if they aren’t doctors. Although most of the thesises are proper, there are some questionable ones in there. You should always keep in mind that a doctorate in medical science does not mean that the person is qualified to be a doctor. You should also take note of the university the “doctor” got his or her degree from. They may be getting their degrees online or from a third-rate university.
Although I have considered making some kind of water that cures AD, I’m going to put that idea on hold because I’m not exactly a salesperson, and even if my water worked, my doctor friends will probably make fun of me for stepping into the “water business”. However, there is a lot to research about water that should be done.

22. Antiallergic agents

Antiallergic agents such as IDP, allegra, and rizaben are not natural supplements, but if the supplements listed above do not work, feel free to use these. The side effects are light so you have nothing to worry about. It is much safer and effective than taking acidic water, which I will mention later.

23. Sleeping is also an important supplement

Sleep at least 7 hours, and if you can, 8 hours. You can sleep for even half a day on your days off. When people don’t sleep enough the body stops sending blood to the skin to preserve energy, and the nutrients that you took for your skin will go to waste. In addition, you do not necessarily need to sleep; you just need to lie down. In other words, you just need to reduce the effect of gravity on your body.
Although it is said that our brains got bigger since we started to walk upright, we’re also vulnerable to diseases other animals do not have.
There are many people who take nearly 2 hours to get to work, and as a result can only sleep 5 to 6 hours a day. If you live like this, AD will not be cured. Although you may think that sleeping in the train is enough, you must also lay down. Also, do not stay up too late.
Try to get to sleep by 11 o’clock. It is better for your skin to sleep from 10 to 6 rather than 1 to 9 even if you sleep the same amount of hours. This relates to the secretion of growth hormones. Growth hormones not only make you taller, but also restore damaged skin. For this to happen, you must sleep from 11 PM to 2 AM. Your AD symptoms will never get better if you stay up all night doing games. Remember that by sleeping and laying down, your skin gets strengthened.
Children who leave a bad lifestyle go to a faraway school and after that to a cram school, take in too much animal fat and protein from the school lunch’s meat and milk, and play games until 1 or 2 in the morning while eating junk food. If you live a lifestyle like this for a long time, naturally, you will start to develop many allergies. AD can be counted as a lifestyle-related disease. When Japanese people used to sleep and wake up early and didn’t take in as much protein and fat, there were no people suffering from AD.
Patients who cannot even sleep because their skin itches so much may get a prescription for antihistamines to be taken an hour before they sleep. Even if you take this for over a year there will be no side effects, so you can use them as much as you think fit. Patients who tend to refuse to use steroid ointments and these prescription drugs actually ignore the fundamentals of health their lifestyle and shower electromagnetic radiation on themselves by watching the TV late at night. Also, avoid taking hot baths before you go to sleep, and instead opt for a lukewarm bath or just a shower. But if you don’t feel itchy after warming your body by bath, take bath and warm your body. Because making your body warm improves your health very much.
